This 3 hour workshop is an introductory level course aimed at those who have a sewing machine they have not yet fully used or those who may have sewn years ago before machines were computerised.The course covers the following:• Care and cleaning of the machine• Basic stitching functions• Adjusting tension for different weights of fabric• Swing needle function• Utility stitches and their uses• Most commonly used machine feet/attachments
Each attendee will be given a pack of fabric swatches of different weights to work on during the class.More advanced sewing machine functions are covered in the six-week long courses offered by Jonquil Brooks. Her website www.makeclothesthatfit.co.uk will have details of other courses.
Requirements for this workshop:Your sewing machine, bobbins that fit it, the box of accessories that came with the machine and if included the brush and mini screwdriver.The machine’s instructions for use or manual/handbookSewing threads you already have at homeNotebook and penTape measureHand sewing needles, pins and small, sharp scissors.
