Description

Would you like to be able to create these pieces for this forthcoming year ? Then join this class held here at Spinning Weal. We start with a 6 week course in the basics of Patchwork & Quilting & then an optional continuation of this wonderful hobby.
Some of the illustrated quilts were made by ladies who started as Beginners only 15 months ago .
So take on a new hobby for 2025 .. make new friends & surprise old friends with your new talent !
For Beginners … you do not need to be an expert stitcher to enrol for this course nor do you need to own a sewing machine .

On the first day you will meet the tutor and get an introduction to the course and what you can expect. This is followed by 6 x 3 hour sessions over a 6 week period
You will learn a variety of techniques and by the end of the course you will have completed 2 different styles of cushion and will be ready to embark on your newfound hobby and start making quilts.
The class will hold a maximum of 8 students therefore there will be plenty of personal tuition. You will also be invited to a drop in session each week, totally optional, where you can meet up with other students and work on your homework together. (I promise there won't be too much!). You can use the tutor's equipment until you decide what you personally need, however each student will have to bring some sharp scissors, hand sewing needles and neutral coloured thread, i.e. pale/mid grey.
Fabric can be chosen on your first lesson or if you prefer you can bring 3 x fat quarters" of cotton fabric: a dark, a medium and a light tone. Please ask at Spinning Weal.
